PS2 doesn't load level 13

Great time playing ghost recon but when accepting mission level 13 the music continues and the screen of the mission objectives remains the same but my controler freezes and the game stays like that, Ive tried restarting but it just won't do anything. Is this a commo problem or is it just my ps2? What can I do to fix it or must I return it? thnx
