dark screen

The picture on my JVC AV-27S33 is very dark, have moved all settings for brightness to max no help. would like to get into sevice menu to check the back lighting and lighting but do not have the code, or would like to know how to fix it anouther way. thanks for any help !!

    To the right of the coaxial cable input on the rear of the TV is a slit. Inside the slit are 2 screws. The top screw controls the focus and the bottom one the brightness. Turn the bottom screw to the right until the picture lightens and then adjust the brightness bar in the menu. Be careful not to turn the top screw or you'll have to readjust the focus. I bought this JVC AV-27S33 TV from a pawn shop seven months ago and watched a too dark picture until I read how to fix it on another fix it website.
