Repair and return DVD

Stacy; I tried my recorder after I received it 2-03-05 from your facility. I cannot get any sound. I have gone through hookup several times with no success. I noticed in correspondence that they ran a recording for several hours. Could they have disconected the sound or is there a mute button? I am stumped. Returning it will be the fourth time. I am convinced this is the recorder from hell!!! Earl
