My TV only flashes the stand by light

My tv was slow on start up for the past 3-4 days ie: turn it on and 20-30 seconds later I would get a picture. Now when I turn it on you can hear the power supply the unit however there is no picture. I have unplugged the unit for several 15 min periods with no luck for a reset. Any ideas before I call a service tech?
