Hi, Jim, the first showroom guy seems better informed. I encountered the same problem with a brand new SanDisk 1024 MB Memory Stick Pro. The compatibility list on Sony's page http://www.sonydigital-link.com/memstick/compatibility/compatibility.asp?l=en&f=dsc tells me that any Pro-Version is not compatible to DSC-F707. One needs at least DSC-F717. My troublesome memory stick works fine on a Cybershot DSC-V1 - so I think the guys from Sony are right.
