problem with the tape compartment which dose not want to close

once you insert the tape, you have to manually close the mechanism, and once it clicks the whole tape compartment slides inside the camera body and you can close the door but i cannot click the tape compartment close and the whole thing just remains open. any suggestions ? thanks
