I wish to replace an old JVC VHS-C with a mini-DV camcorder. Is the new Panasonic PV-GS120 with 3-chip technology a better deal than a similar priced Sony or Canon single chip.

Are the low end 3-chip cameras really better than a fairly good single chip? I know the more expensive ($1,000 plus) are better, but at the low end will I see a difference?
