What am I doing wrong?

I thought the Panasonic software DV Studio 3 was going to be easy street to get working for me but it is anything BUT. The installation part goes off without a hitch but when I try to open the first screen of the DV Studio 3,all I get is the hourglass turning and saying "Now Connecting" but hours later it is still not connecting. This is from a simple CD, without even attaching the camera to it at this point. I am very very disappointed at this stage.
