If it went into a sweet water,dry it out and try. If it is a salt water forget about this camera

I have a Sharp ViewCam model number VL-e665u. Everything on the camera works except the LCD display. The view cam was dropped in the water. What needs to be fixed and what parts do I need. I don’t have any experience working on video cameras but I am a little knowledgeable about electronics. Should I attempt this repair on my own or should I have it fixed at a shop. Is it worth fixing, I do like the camera.
