how to mult region a camera

hi Ive just been found a canon xl2 for £980 pounds thats about $1700 dollors us, but I have a problem I love the price very much, but I dont like the fact that the camera is Ntsc as pal is my home countrys format and its way better than Ntsc( because of the added resolution) I was thinking than canon might make the cameras all the same and change the format setting in the software. If this is so , can they be hacked like dvd players can . could i make an ntsc camera a pal one any one any ideas
