Power failure

My SONY 707 operates quite well when directly powered by the adaptor. It does not operate when powered by the battery (New battery). I made the following tests: Adaptor outlet: DC out 8.4 V OK Battery connection ports into the caméra: DC out 8.4 V OK (Camera connected to the adaptor, battery removed) Battery output: DC output 7,2 V OK The logo of the battery power level does not appear on the LCD. When the camera is off, and connected to the adaptor, the yellow ligth (Battery loading)stays off. I have already spent too much money in reaparing this camera. I would like now to know the origin of this problem before to go the the maintenance shop.Can some body help me.
