Re: JVC TV AV-27820, how to remove child lock on a channel

william perez Posted Nov 19, 2004, in response to:Dominic Fernandez

I think so no es problem with, the child lock. If the black square srcreen is in the picture mean the closed caption is selected in text mode. use the remote control and disable close caption mode.

Wonderfull!!! We had the black patch on our 27" jvc TV (model av-27820) for about a year now and without the manual, we just let the kids use the TV for dvd or vhs movies...but still sometimes the black patch would come on with some of the movies. we were fustrated with the TV, so we hardly ever used it for over a year!! The TV has awesome picture quality and there is nothing at all wrong with it, so i finally decided to search the web to troubleshoot this problem. this is the only posting i found that had the correct solution to fix the black patch problem that i could find posted on the web, as i google'd all morning long. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! all we had to do was hit the "closed caption" button on the remote to turn it off and the black patch dissapeared! we are now enjoying out tv upstairs in our loft and are very happy. oh, at first i did try to turn off the "closed caption" by the menu button on the front/face of the TV (because i could not find the remote at first), but there is no option to turn off the closed caption from the tv menu...at least i couldn't find one. you have to hit the closed caption button on the remote to turn it off. well, thank you! any chance you would know how to get a owner's manual for this tv or maybe a copy?? thank you again !!!!!!
