Audio tapes stuck in player

Hello, I have an Aiwa mini system with dual cassette deck. Recently, both the cassette decks stopped working completely and the audio tapes are stuck inside. I am unable to open either of the tape decks. I am also unable to play the tapes in them. Each time I turn on the system, the tape decks make a clicking sound for a few seconds. I would appreciate any feedback and help that would help me understand why the above problem occurs and how I can fix it. Thanks in advance, -Topper
