Need Assistance Getting eMac to recognize Sony Camcorder.
I am fairly new to Apple computers. I have worked on many other machines from IBMs to Sun boxes over the course of 20+ years, but have never dealth with Apple hardware. Now I am trying to find out why an eMac will not recognize a Sony HandyCam (TRV250).
I do NOT have a firewire cable and suspect that perhaps the USB cable is not supported or sufficient since everywhere I look, if you connect anything to a Mac, they say use firewire. The only drivers available on Sony's website are for PCs, not Mac. So I am stumped. I had hoped it would have recognized it without any drivers, since everyone claims Macs are so robust when it comes to Digital Video.
I have no problems connecting the camcorder to a PC. I have even pull the video from the Digital8 tape to the harddrive of a PC with no major problems. However I am not crazy about the editing software available for PCs. The video was saved in WMV format therefore I do not know if a Mac will recognize that media type if I burn it to CD.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks,
