Cannot turn it on to take pictures?

Hi, I have a DSC P 51 that's about 2 years old. It seems as if I can only turn it on to review pictures but when i switch it from playback mode to camera mode, the camera shuts off and i can't even turn it back on. It will only turn on to review pictures. Any ideas on what's wrong with it and if I can easily get it fixed and how much would it cost me. Thanks a Bunch!!
