Need help with embedding video

Robin Posted Oct 22, 2004

I need help embedding a Windows Media File video into my webpage.

I'm new at this! I have a Windows Media File that I want to embed on my webpage and I'm having problems. I created a video in Premiere 6.0 and exported it into a windows media file. When I did an initial embedding using notepad, audio and video work just fine. However, when we put it on our web server, only the audio works, with no video showing. We got it to work with other video files we had found elsewhere and put on the server, but I can't get it to work with my video. So, I'm supposing there's something wrong with the way I exported the Premiere file into a .wmv. Possibly the settings? I'm just learning Premiere and am not sure about how to fiddle with all the settings...Thanks for your help.

Are you sure that you are using the right case for video filenames on the web-server ? Do your links from HTML use exactly that filenames? It could work on your computer because of Windows doesn't do difference between file cases, but for UNIX on the web-server, the files video.wmv and VIDEO.WMV are different.
