There is static noise but no picture.

I'm the manager of a fitness center. At the center there is a lounge where people can watch the tv after working out. The tv stays on 24/7 and a few days ago it stopped working. When I turn it on, the screen is blank. I can hear the static noise but there is no picture. After turning it off, it sometimes turns on again by itself and then goes off. Also when I tried to play a video with it, there was loud clicking noises as if the cord from the vcr was damaged but it wasn't. What could be the problem with it? Is it difficult to fix? Could I possibly fix it myself?
