I would love help with my shaky images in my camcorder.

Hi! does anyone know why, when recording on the sony ccd-tr5 the view is not shaking but when I rewind and play the playback the picture is very very shaky. Is this because of a bad tape? is there a such thing as tracking for video recorders? or is my video recorder just plain shot? Please help!!! Thanks Terry
