Problems with my Sony Net MD

I was just wondering if anybody has had problems with this net MD player/recorder because i unfortunately have had loads of problems and i was wondering if this was happening all over or if its just mine. i already know of one person experiencing the same faults 1)not recording anymore 2)wiping my MDs clean when in the player I did write to Sony and they "kindly" offered me a chagre of £50 (about $100 i think) to have a look at it, which i thought was disgusting considering the device cost me £180 in the first place, when the fault was not through misuse.
