I have had my JVC GR-DVM for about 5 years and about 9 months ago after not having used the camcorder for about 9 months I started with the same problem described by all. I have cleaned the contacts for the battery and the those on the camera. I have also tried the AC adapter and still the same safe mode message

Exact same problem and unit. If you know how to fix this let me know!

I am having the same problem with the same unit. I changed batteries, tried every single approach thats mentioned here, still it keeps giving the same message!
