Why won't my DV tape eject?

Model: JVC GR-DVP3U The eject mechanisim is stuck and will not eject the tape. Is there a simple fix I can try before taking it to a service center? I can see the gears turning and hear the motor spinning, but the mechanism does not budge. Pleeeeaaaasse Help!!!! Regards, babarn
