The most likely cause of your problem is a bad picture tube which is going into 1k shutdown. The yellow/green picture also indicates that you do not have a red component in the picture, again, probably a bad picture tube. The cost of repalcing a picture tube today is almost as much as a new set so it is not really a viable alternative.
