HomeSony c:13:01 fix for users using memory stick. I have a Sony Mavica FD-85 camera that I purchased on ebay about 3 years ago and until recently it had been great until I filled the 128 mb Sony memory stick and got the dreaded C:13:01 error! I have been using the stick with a Sony MSAC-FD2M floppy disk adapter and I also have a usb card reader that I have found to be quicker displaying the pictures than inserting the floppy disk adaptor into the floppy drive and viewing from it. I tried all the that have been posted but could not reformat the memory stick. I am using Windows XP Pro and i put the memory stick into the card reader(Drive E: on my system) and went to MY COMPUTER, right clicked on E: Removable Disk, click PROPERTIES,TOOLS,click CHECK NOW under the error checking tab,and check off the boxes that say AUTOMATICALLY FIX FILE SYSTEM ERRORS and SCAN FOR AND ATTEMPT RECOVERY OF BAD SECTORS. Then simply click START and let the process complete. I just did this and inserted the memory stick into the adapter and the adapter into the camera and it began to work again. I had been hearing a whirring sound as the camera tried to read initialize the adapter and then the C:13:01 but this seems to have done the trick. I hope this helps someone. Just don't give up and start throwing things away and buying new because one of these hints online will work for you.

I have found using the Sony MSAC-FD2M Floppy Disk Adapter with my FD-95, the contacts where the memory stick plugs into the MSAC-FD2M start loosing good contact and when this occurs, the 'C:13:01 error' message appears. The contacts sometime get so loose that a piece of Scotch-tape must be used to keep the memory-stick from falling out of the disk adapter. This may explain why the "smacking method" sometimes works. I don't see a simple method for opening up the MSAC-FD2M Floppy Disk Adapter case so the contact's tension could be manually adjusted. Any ideas? Charles in Mason Texas I have a sony cd 500 Mavica which takes the cd disk. Just recently I ended up with a disk and the camera is saying c13:01 error. Called sony and they didn't think it was a camera error. I'm also on Windows xp. Will try to walk thru you instructions but would also like to hear from you. I have 50 pictures at stake and its hard finding help...Thanks Denise I have the Sony F707. There is another string of entries on this forum about a different error message E:61:10. Just about everyone has commented that the "smacking method" worked to fix that problem. And it's the only thing that worked for me and my C:13:01 problem. If you have more than one Memory Stick, and you get the same message using each of them, the problem is in your camera, not the MS. Lightly tap the bottom of the camera on the edge of a table, and see if that corrects the problem. It did for me and many others. |
