How come my dvd player is always saying no disc even when there is a disc in the drive? Please Help

This is the second dvp-S56OD that I have gotten and they have both done this. Even though there is a disc in there it will not read it. I hear the thing spooling up, but I think it is not spooling it up quick enough to read the disc. If anyone has any ideas on what it might be or what parts I would need to fix it that would be great.
