I had the same problem on a Sony DCR TRV22. I was able to resolve a stuck tape by switching the camera into memory stick mode (after disconnecting the battery and using the plug-in power source). In memory stick mode I opened the tape compartment and the tape ejected very slowly as if it were sticking or had eaten the tape, however once it successfully ejected found that there was no mechanical or tape issues. I did however notice that that particular tape was set to protection on/rec off - the little lever that is on the tape itself that keeps you from accidentally recording over it.

Voila! Your suggestion to power up my Sony DCR-TRV510 and remove and reinstall the battery to clear a C 32:11 WORKED!! You seem to have saved me hundreds of dollars. My camcorder wouldn't latch from a cassette compartment opened up position, with or without a cassette in it. I had removed the battery and reinstalled it a couple of times, but not with the power on in Camera mode.

I am having the same problems with my Sony DCR TRV510... I keep getting C:31:10 and it won't keep a tape down. I've tried changing the power sources, turning it off and on. I even gave it a gentle jiggle but nothing is working. Does anyone else have a suggestion???

Have you tried turning on the power, then removing and reinstalling the battery? I\'ve heard that will clear a C:32:11.
