my camcorder states its in safe mode after no use for some time, and take battery off and put it back on. Then I go to record or watch and it eats the tapes..plz help..

I need to get this fixed because everytime I try and use it to watch previous movies or record new ones it eats the tape

my camcorder goes into safe mode and eats my tapes and does not let me record tells me to remove battery and reinsert.
