Re: Nuvi spec ccd security Cameras

Bob Posted Jul 18, 2004, in response to:Jim

My email of yesterday has an error. I wondered why they would have +12V going in on the Monitor connector, and +5V going in on the Aux connector. I traced the wiring and found my error. All the power goes in on the Monitor, +12V input as I stated yesterday. This is regulated to maintain a constant 12 volts to electronics. The 5V regulator gets its input internally from the +12V regulator. What I though was an input is actually a +5V output. Fortunately it did no damage to the camera. Everything can be done through the Monitor connector. I have found a mating connector that mated to a joy stick. I cut the cable and found that it had all the pins I needed to run through the Monitor connector. The Aux can be used to run the speaker inside the camera, but I dont need it. Also, on the "Monitor" connector, the top left pin is a hi level microphone output. On the "Aux" connector, the top right pin is the speaker input. There appears to be a surface mounted LM386 Power Amp chip, to drive speaker. Hope this helps. BobC
