Canon Optura Pi eats tapes

Bruce Posted Jun 07, 2004

This camera eats tapes and won't load. Otherwise fine. Is a camera like this worth fixing?

The Optura is a $1000 piece of junk. I had the camera repaired once under warranty for eating precious tapes. I spent over $200 at a factory authorized center for a follow up repair. The thing still eats tapes. All of this and I have only recorded a total of 8 tapes since I bought it. I will never purchase another Canon product. This is a common problem with their Mini DVD units. This thing has wrecked several vacations and later damaged tapes we loved during playback. Pathetic.

Hi: Did you fix your Optura PI? If you did, what was the problem and how much did it cost you to fix? I have the same camcorder and this is one of many problems I have with it. I HATE this camcorder and I will never buy another Canon's garbage product ever again! thx in advance, Tai
