jvc gr dvl 300 camcorder doesn't connect anymore with firewire

my camcorder jvc gr dvl 300 use to work well with my duron 750 mhz with an xp pro os. i use different editing software and there were no problems before in capturing images from the camcorder via firewire. but when i made an upgrade on my computer using an athlon xp 2000 processor, but still with an xp pro os, the computer suddenly fails to recognize the camcorder. i tried using a different firewire, a different card, and even a different ooperating system and software, but none worked. until i decided to borrow a sony camcorder and tried it in my computer. it worked. realizing the defect is most likely the firewire port of the camcorder, i brought it to a jvc center. unfortunately, the jvc center says they cannot test my camcorder since they do not have a firewire!@#$%^&*(!! Just went home and shut my computer. Maybe the message is clear enough. Buy a SONY!
