HomeCompaq and HP drive swaps? I have two computers...one is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion 6535. The other is a Compaq DeskPro. The HP's hard drive is making an incredible amount of noise and sounds as if it is about to give out. I am running Windows 98 on it. The Compaq Deskpro has Windows XP installed but has very limited memory. Does anyone know if the HP hard drive quits...can I install the hard drive from the Compaq into the HP? It is a Western Digital 23200. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks folks. I took a chance and installed it. I held my breath as it loaded....it worked and I now have Windows ME:) Again, thanks for your help. yes u can but like they said u will probrably need to reinstall windows. if u or any body who reads this ever needs help with a computer u can email me at paramusboy88@yahoo. com i would gladly help Yes, you can, but you probably have to reinstall Windows XP, because HP has a different hardware... |
