I was talking about JVC GY-DV5000 camcorder. If you're lucky, you could get it with manual 16x lens for about 5,000USD, but don't go for the best price. It's risky sometimes. Batteries and charger will cost you extra, but overall, you will not regret the money you spent on it because that camera belongs to professional world. Mid-class camcorders (XL1s, DVX100 etc.) fall somewhere in between pro and amateur. JVC GY-DV5000 offers one very cool extra feature: LCD screen. It's real life saver - even for professionals.
All this however, is just my opinion. Big cameras are much heavier and do not offer some of the features found in mid class DV models e.g. image stabilizer. For some, that feature is very important, so just make sure you get familiar will all the specs before you buy it. Good luck!
