Should I buy an NTSC DV camera?
I am a newcomer to DV but am planning to buy a Canon GL2/XM2 for documentary work. I live in the US but beginning later this year I expect to spend a lot of time working in the UK. If I buy an NTSC camera will I be able to use it easily in the UK? For example, I presume I can't buy NTSC DV blank tapes in the UK and will have to have them delivered to me from the US? Or if I want to do my editing in the UK, renting time at a production house in London, for example, will I be able to use my NTSC tapes on their machines? Most DV cameras are significantly more affordable in the US than in the UK, but if buying NTSC will cause me problems long-term maybe I should wait and buy a PAL camera (I've heard PAL is technically slightly better image quality anyway). I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks. Mark.
