any suggestions

My PS2 is starting to have colour problems the picture just seems to be getting darker all together(dvds & Games) .For the first time last night I noticed that the colour would actually go back and forth form a brighter resolution to a darker resolution. I have had my ps2 for about 3 years it has logged some serious game time along with being the primary DVD palyer for my household.
