Post production and DVDs

I have a indie that I am doing the sound for. DVDs were given to me with ten minutes of reel on them. Each one starts on the hour. I have 9 DVDs in total. Also on the DVDs is LTC on the right channel. How would I get that into my Logic system so it syncs up? I was told to capture the video and turn it into a QT file. Are there any other options? Is there a better way? I am just looking for options at this point
