editing video on PC

olly Posted Mar 17, 2004

why do frames that appear very clear on my video camera appear blurred on my PC?

I have been using my Cannon video camera to record tennis players that i coach and then transferring the video to my laptop using a firewire. I then want to take still pictures from the video clips so i can anlyse them (i.e. look at the technique at the contact point and then edit the picture). As i play through the video, frame by frame on the camera the picture looks very clear as i use a high shutter speed 1/1000, however, at the same time the image on the pc shows two frames (i.e. two pictures of the player at slightly different stages of the shot). Why is this? is it because the shutter speed needs to be faster or is this due to the pc having a different frame rate? are there any ways around this - settings i can change or programs i can use - i currently use Adobe Photoshop. I would appreciate anyone who knows anything about this to leave their thoughts. thanks.
