27" RCA TV suddenly went dead
27" RCA Gemstar TV suddenly went dead (no audio or video), accompanied by hi-pitched sizzle which is constant when set is plugged in. Have read about this particular TV online indicating flyback and transistor may be bad. Since the FBT is only about $30 bucks I would like to replace it. I AM aware of the necessity to discharge the anode to the CRT chassis or grnd strap, and to discharge any large PS capacitors but I'm not certain about how the clip and "suction cup" insulating boot comes off. I don't want to break the contact or CRT.
Any help out there?
Thanks
