You may try a TV tuner card with S-video socket. The lower end products should cost you less than US$ 30. You also need an S-video cable. Connect the camcorder by the S-video cable and the Audio/Video cable included with your camcorder (you may need a plug adapter if the A/V sockets of your TV tuner card do not match with the A/V cable). You should then be able to capture video from your camcorder. Of course, the image quality is theoretically worse than what you would get with a fire-wire. However, they are virtually indistinguishable by human eyes (at least my eyes).
