RE: Video Output Override

anonymous Posted Jan 24, 2004

TV supports 720p out but will display as 420p.

I have recently got into the HD market and I have a question about my Sony 46 in. HDTV Monitor/Projection TV (KP46WT510). The TV is advertised as supporting 480i/480p/1080i/720p. When playing around with the TV settings to complement my dvd(V Inc, Bravo)output setting of 720P to see if there was a noticable difference between 1080i and 720p, I really did not see any dramatic difference. After further researching the sony manual, it says that the tv can accept a 720p signal but will present it as 420p. My reaction of course was, this stinks. With this in mind, does anyone know of a way to work around this issue or provide any direction? Thanks, Steve
