Sony Trinitron TV model KV-32XBR resets on and off

I have had my Sony KV-32XRB 5-6 yrs with no problems, last night I woke up with the TV on, got up and turned it off but it immediately started to reset itself on and off. This evening I investigated and found that when the eye sensor for the remote on the tv is covered it works fine, as soon as I uncover the sensor it immediately resets on and off. I would assume the sensor is bad but wanted to see if anyone here has seen this issue or point me in the right direction. Thanks
