Analog to digital conversion via miniDV

David, atlanta Posted Jan 18, 2004

Need help with recording feature of mini DV (JVC GR-DVM90)

I would like to transfer all my old analog home movies to DVD, for editing and for backup. I have been advised the best way to do this is simply via my mini-DV camcorder (JVC GR-DVM90). But I can't figure out if/how to do this, since the inputs appear to be only digital, and not analog (either component, composite). Is this doable, or are my choices either to get another camcorder, or pay a professional to do this?

Depends, your manual should be able to tell you if your camera has analog inputs. if it does then you can copy to mini dv. But then you still need to copy to pc or dvd. It might be possible to enter the camer in analog and immediatelly go out in dv to pc or dvd recorder. I have a panasonic dv recorder and he can do this. Hope this helps.
