C:13:01 error

I have followed advice on this page but without success. I clicked the format option within the camera menu but it did nothing. I plugged the camera into the computer and it shows up as drive E: I did start/run and typed in E: /FS:FAT /A:8192 and it tells me to 'Please insert a disk into drive E:' The drive does show up as 'Sony Memory Stick'. This camera is approx. 4 years old and I'm sure it's been programmed to self destruct by now. Guess I won't be buying any more Sony stuff in the near future. I also have a friend who bought one. Two weeks later it died. It's kind of odd that the two Sony camera I know of both stopped working. I guess it's just me.
