Sony CCD-TRV41 Camcorder has raster but no display on the LCD monitor. Neither the VTR nor the camera function.

I have a mostly dead camcorder. The vtr control buttons light up and there's raster but no video on the display, but that's about it. Neither the camera nor the VTR function beyond that. Has anyone seen anything like this? Any thoughts on where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Randy
