SONY DAT WALKMAN Model TCD-D7 batteries

Does this make have a seperate battery compartment? If so where could I find one. And does this portable Dat come with mic input level controls similar to the more expensive models (i.e an adjustable wheel) or is it a level adjustment similar to minidiscs - a discrete level change that can only be operated pre recording? Sorry haven't seen the product close up but any info you can provide/point me in the direction of would help make up my mind about buying Thanks Cas
