Need assistance on configuration for Betacam SP to VHS dub.

Hello, I'm making dubs from my Sony betacam sp (UVW 1800) masater to VHS, and there is a terribly noticable loss in quality. Both Decks are virtually brand new. My connectons: Back of UVW 1800- VIDEO OUT 2(SUPER) an RCA cable with a BNC adaptor, goes to the video in on the VHS deck. Should I use a different connection or what? I've swapped cables and they are fine. Thanks. joe
