dew sensor,how to turn it off.

Hey guys, I have the pv-gs500, and I keep getting the "Dew detect" message as well. I tried nearly every solution I've seen on the net. My family and I moved from Florida to Michigan about 6 months ago, and I STILL am having this problem. It's quite odd actually, because the camcorder worked perfectly in Florida. Yup, the place with 90% humidity and 100 degree heat. It's also doing this "turning on when it's turned off" at random times, which has forced me into removing the battery pack when I am done with it. This is getting extremely annoying, and I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks again, Alex M.

I have a Panasonic NV-DS60EG and had the same problem. Within 2 years i needed twice a new dew sensor . Now for the third time it happened again. No more guarantee. Grrrrr. But something strange happened. When you open the lid( tape side) you see in the middle a black pin with inside a transparrent part. That's the dew sensor. I don't know how it happened, but i cleaned the sensor with a soft tissue and pressed a bit i hope to make a better connection.... and see, the camera worked again. Yipeeee ! Mark from Holland.

can someone tell me what a dew sensor is and how do i know if that's what's wrong w/ mine? my problem is that my power light will blink twice and then go off, blink twice and then go off, blink twice and then go off. Is that what you all are having trouble with?

hi there, you mentioned you could open pv-l550d camcorder without any problem. can you please show me how. we could change the flex wire where the dew sensor is located but I don;t know where to start opening the camera. I appreciate your prompt reply thanks Jeric

If you want photos how to repair your panasonic PV-L550D camcorder. And Photo of the actual part. Send this guy an email. He has couple of shots of the inside of the camera. He charged $6.00 for it. It is worth paying. He send me the photo of the inside of the camera and photo of the actual part and where to change it. My camera works fine after I ordered the parts, open the camera and replace the failing dew sensor switch by myself. His email: noypiakono@netzero.net

Ray, I'm having the same problem. I'm so ticked!!! Our camera is not even 3yrs old, and the dew detection sensor has gone crazy! Do you know where I can get a new sensor? Thanks, Chris
