Sony receiver flashing "protector"

My Sony receiver (STR GX900ES) starts flashing "PROTECTOR" a few seconds after powering it on. This is with nothing hooked up to it. Is there something obvious that is wrong that I can fix without costing me bundle? Where can I get a set of schematics or repair manual for this thing?
