Need to isolate audio dialogue from camera noise.

I shoot Mini DV video for both personal and business applications and am looking for a way to improve the audio (mostly interviews) by isolating it from camera noise. I am using 2 similar Sony Mini DV camcorders, the TRV-33 and TRV-18?, both with shoe mounts. I am considering purchasing the Azden SGM-X. Will this help? Do I need an additional accessory or can I mount directly on the camcorder?

I'd like to hear from someone who uses this mike or another inexpensive option. Thanks!
