Can anyone provide directions for changing the lamp on a Sony VPL-W400 projector?

I was watching TV recently when a great bang sound came from my projector - presumably the lamp blowing.
My manual tells me that the replacement part is a PK-PJ500, and that instructions for replacement come with the lamp.

I would like to visually inspect the electronics around the dud lamp to check for obvious damage to the projector (that was a really loud bang). Can anyone tell me how to get at and remove the old lamp?
(replacement lamps cost a small fortune, so I want to check the projector BEFORE ordering a new lamp).
