VX2000 - Record in DVCAM mode?

I was talking to someone recently who suggested that if I were to strip my minidv tapes on my DVCAM DSR 300P camera and use them in the VX2000, it would fool the VX2000 into thinking that it was a DVCAM camcorder, like the PD150.Any ideas?
