I lost the remote of my deck. Why ?

I hope my english is good enough to be understandable.
Let's try ...
I have Avid 3.5 on Windows XP home. I already digitized material via Sony DSR 1500 and a camcorder. Did digital cut too. It worked fine.
But now, i got the message "no deck". On deck configuration, I read "firewire on no port". No way to configure it. It's like no firewire port is installed.
The deck is recognized by the PC (I can digitize via Windows movie maker), but not by Avid.
Do you have a idea to fix this problem.
